• We aim to make Bury Playgroup accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community.

  • We will ensure that the existence of the playgroup is widely known in the local community. We will place information advertising the playgroup in places where all sections of the community can see them, in more than one language if appropriate.

  • When Playgroup and/or Rising Stars are oversubscribed we will arrange our waiting list based on age. Where children are of similar ages we will apply a first come, first served basis. The total number of sessions required will be taken into consideration.

  • Playgroup cannot guarantee further sessions being available at a later date which are in addition to the number of sessions applied for when the child first joins Playgroup.

  • We will admit children to the group as soon as possible after the term they reach 2 years, provided there are sufficient vacancies.

  • We will describe the playgroup and its practices in terms which make it clear that it welcomes both fathers and mothers, other relations and other carers, including childminders, and people from all cultural, ethnic, religious and social groups, with and without disabilities.

  • We will admit children for a minimum of two sessions a week to give them the best opportunity to form relationships with staff and other children, to ensure activities can be planned to the individual needs of that child and all observations and assessment for the Early Years Foundation Stage can be completed.

  • We will continue to consult parents and carers to ensure that the group goes on meeting the changing needs of the local community.

  • This admissions policy runs in conjunction with the Equality Policy.
